Here are 4 things to do every day to extend your life and increase vitality:

1.  Eat when you are hungry!

2.  Sleep when you are tired.

3.  Sweat daily.

4.  Laugh often!

It can be this easy!

Mother Daughter Love!

Mother Daughter Love!

It’s a special day today, as our youngest daughter turns 21!

I often have birth dreams the night of the kids birthdays but not last night, the dreams were more about swimming and water and mermaids.

Our youngest daughter is the most visual example of the Irish heritage on my husband’s side of the family, with gorgeous alabaster skin, freckles and is spite of what she tries to do, a burnished copper tint to her hair. She is a true Gemini, complete with extraordinary artistic and creative abilities with a feisty streak thrown in

I never had any sisters and I am so blessed to have three amazing daughters.

Happy Birthday Ms Del.

love, your mommy aka zoey

Women’s Book Club: The No Rules Book Club

Women’s Book Clubs

We have been meeting for over 15 years, regularly every 6-8 weeks.  We have shared each other’s lives, joys and sorrows but mostly we have laughed.  We say we have no rules, however, yes, we have read and discussed many books and I am pleased to say that my literary tastes have been refined in the process (la de dah).

Tonight I’m hosting book club and we are meeting on our sailboat in Granville Island in Vancouver.  The book for discussion is “Where Did You Go Bernadette?” by Maria Semple.

Not to detract from the discussion (my book club gal pals never read my blog, so no worries there), I loved this book.  I laughed out loud many times and could empathize with the main character, a brilliant, creative, often misunderstood mom suffering from depression and anxiety.

I mentioned the enjoyment of this book to a friend and we discussed how the culture in the Pacific  North West is relaxed, outdoorsy with doses of  hippiness and hipness thrown in.  She suggested I may enjoy the TV show “Portlandia”, which I am currently downloading.

I do so love the West Coast!

Words of Wisdom: Inspiring Quote of the Day

“I’m not the same having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world”

~ Mary Anne Radmacher

This quote has particular resonance for me as one of our daughters is traveling in South East Asia and I am so thrilled for her to experience new cultures and meet new people!

Women ~ Health ~ Wisdom: Holistic Health Tip of the Day

Holistic Health Tip of the Day

Tip:  develop  your awareness of your mind body connection through your breath and through movement.  Taking your awareness inside and listening to your body’s messages allows you to deepen your sense of self and your health.

The Flip: take your focus off ‘diets’, exercise programs and self -improvement programs.

Let your inner wisdom  be your guide.

Women ~ Health ~ Life: Meditation Focus for the Week

Topaz Lotus Heart Centred Living: Meditation Focus for the Week

I have spoken previously about the book ‘The Yamas & Niyamas’ by Deborah Adele and I first learned about this book from a wonderful couple, Jack and Soorya Resels, who are sharing Yoga Philosophy with us (in yoga teacher training)! Soorya and Jack also offer ‘Conscious Living, Conscious Loving’ for couples via workshops and coaching.

So, again using the book mentioned above, the meditation focus this week is ‘brahmacharya’ or ‘nonexcess’

‘In the dark and muck, a golden lotus blossoms ~ God’s grace awaits us.’ C.L.

From ‘The Yamas & Niyamas: Exploring Yoga’s Ethical Practice

The yogic meaning of non excess is an interesting one to ponder for sure, given the excess we see around us in North America and it is in that fine balance between excess and  deprivation or scarcity that the lotus blossoms!

Enjoy your day.
