Women | Life | Wisdom: The Importance of Friends

I have a ‘best friend forever’ who I met when we were both 18. We share a birthday Month, which is coming up and we are turning 58. As I was typing this, it occurred to me that we have been friends for 40 years, wow!

We see each other once a year at the most and talk, text or email every few months, so there is not a lot of contact. She lives in a different city, in another province.

We occasionally travel together!

IMG_0851.JPGOur next trip together is to the Banff WordFest in the October, our last was a spa weekend to Sparkling Hills. We’ve traveled farther afield too and were to climb Mt Kilimanjaro until sanity prevailed, we have settled on doing a sensible stretch of the Camino de Santiago instead.

We make each other laugh like no other. She recently sent me an email and every time I remember her words, I break into a giggle. She referenced her bridesmaid dress for my wedding, a cigarette and breaking the rules and it was nothing about smoking. I’ll let your imagination flow on this one. I’m still chuckling.

All this is to say that I love her and treasure our longstanding and deep friendship!

Love you Barb!

Los Cabos Love: Fond Memories

Fond memories of fun times with friends in San Jose del Cabo. This is from the funky beach restaurant that was on the beach side of the road to La Palmilla. I can’t for the life of me remember the name but I do remember the fun!

Loving the Beach Walks in Los Cabos

My favorite way to start the day in Los Cabos is to watch the sunrise from the beach and then go for a beach walk!

Traveling to Vancouver: Fabulous Accommodation in Fabulous Neighborhoods

If you or anyone you know are traveling to Vancouver and need great accommodation and dislike the sterile formality of a large hotel, I can highly recommend my friend’s (Helene and Phillipe),  2 self contained units, “The Garden Cottage Coach House” and “The Blue Oak Coach House”.

Los Cabos Love: Typical Beach Morning at Casa del Mar

When we are on vacation at Casita Topaz, we usually get up to watch the sunrise while having our coffee at the beach.

Even though there aren’t many people up at that time, there is plenty of activity!
Fishermen, pelicans, the occasional jogger and horses being taken to meet their riders.

Yoga on the Beach: Los Cabos Vacation

Yoga on the Beach on our Recent Los Cabos Vacation

Wayne and I spent a busy week in Los Cabos recently, getting the condo ready for the rental season. It was a vacation from work at home but were we ever busy!

During the busyness of life yoga and coming back to my breath is my sanity.

I have been blessed with a friendship with Ivonne Lopez, who teaches the beach yoga classes at our Casa del Mar development.

Here is us with some honeymooners who attended class. It was a fabulous class!

Los Cabos on The Baja and Flora Farms

Flora Farms – One of the Faves

Many of my aunts, uncles and cousins lived on farms during my youth and I spent many happy times playing in the hay lofts, ponds, with the pets and helping in the gardens.

When we are at our comfy oceanfront casita Topaz at Casa del Mar in the Los Cabos Corridor or if guests are renting it, I always mention a trip to Flora Farms in Las Animas for drinks or a delicious meal.

Flora Farm is a working organic farm and is truly a delight to all the senses! You can purchase fresh produce and preserves, wander through the art gallery and/or book a tour of the farm and ‘culinary cottages’.

The resident dogs provide a very friendly touch!

Be sure to add Flora Farms to your list of ‘to dos’ for your next trip to Los Cabos!

Los Cabos Fun in the Sun

Casa del Mar and Other Great Los Cabos Resorts

We have been vacationing to the Los Cabos area since 1990! Like today, the Pacific Northwest is well known for cool, gloomy rainy days and both my husband and I ‘got hooked’ on a sunny holiday to warm southern climates mid winter.

We picked the Los Cabos area initially as it was the closest hot and sunny destination from British Columbia. In those days we were traveling with very young children and flight length, sun and cost were the key factors!

We fell in love with the Baja and San Jose del Cabo on our first trip and have stayed at many resorts and condos over the years. We love the people of Mexico, the charm and the traditional Mexican architecture.

We have visited most of the areas in the southern third of the Baja and were really challenged when we finally decided to buy our own condo as there are many gorgeous locations and Resorts. Our criteria included: beachfront, tennis, swimming, golf, quietness, physical beauty, yoga if possible, a feeling of a peaceful oasis in the desert yet close enough to a larger center for groceries, shopping, restaurants and an airport!

We found our ‘desert jewel’ and are so excited to let you know that ‘Casita Topaz’ aka Pelicanos 202, Casa del Mar in the luxurious Los Cabos Corridor is available as a Los Cabos vacation rental!

‘Topaz’ is a one bedroom ocean view condo that sleeps four and is located in the prestigious Casa del Mar Resort, part of the Cabo Real development in the corridor between trendy touristy Cabo San Lucas to the south and quaint, quiet San Jose del Cabo to the North.

Let me know if you are interested in more information by calling us (Zoey 604-323-3700 or Wayne 604-649-7780) or messaging me through this blog.

Here is a ‘vintage’ family photo from Lis Cabos, we have so much fun!
