Tips for Life Success

Have you heard the saying, “you are what you think”, what about “your outer world is an out picturing of your inner world”?  Your thoughts are powerful and act as a basis for change and transformation.  As you bring clarity and organization to your thoughts there is a heightened ability to focus and bring success to all areas of your life.   Try out the tips this month to get organized mentally and remember, if you think you can, you can.  If you think you can’t you are right!
Tip #1
Focus on one area that you want to change. Ask yourself: why is this change important, what are the benefits, what will happen if I don’t make this change and how will I measure success. Write down the answers!  Connect with feeling to the reasons to make this change.

Understand and sense of the difference between “scattered thinking” and “peaceful thinking”.  Many spiritual traditions distinguish between ego and the higher self.  An ego out of balance is also called “monkey mind”.  Visualize a tree full of jumping, squealing monkeys.  Tame those wild monkeys and achieve a peaceful thinking state, by sitting quietly or meditating daily.

Tip # 2
What is your inspiration for making a change?  Think about a time in your life that you felt totally “in the zone” what were the characteristics of your life?  What inspires you now?  Who inspires you?  Develop a compelling story for your inner coach to remind you of.

Start with your end vision in mind.  As you develop clarity and become specific about where it is you are going in different areas of your life, your vision becomes a touchstone or a lighthouse. Write out your vision and include as much detail as possible.  Revisit, re-read and revise your vision regularly.

Tip # 3
How do you put blocks in the way of your success?   Is it one of the top three; not enough time, energy or money!  Get really clear on the reason you allow yourself to not succeed and ask what needs to be in place to work through the blocks.  Design your personal support team!

Tap into the power of both intentions and goals.  Intentions are used to draw you forward and attract results.  Goals are something you actively move towards and are often attached to an action plan.  Write down your goals and intentions using a preface like “I intend to attract more ….  into my life” and “it is my goal to …”.  Choose goals that are realistic, measurable and achievable.

Tip # 4
You are well on your way to success and… something unexpected comes up!  Sounds familiar?  Stop and design a contingency plan right now.  Be clear on all elements, use your inner coach and plan ahead.  Develop an affirmation that includes the reason for making the change and your compelling story.

Get clear on your personal definition of success. Spend time reflecting on this topic, ask yourself, “what needs to be in place in my life for me to feel successful” and write down your answers.  Integrate this definition into your thought patterns through an affirmation stated as though the “success” was already in place.

Tip # 5
Build on your success!  Maintain long-term sustainable change by celebrating and congratulating yourself along the way.  Identify mileposts and design simple celebratory routines.  Share your success stories with others, get excited about the results and ask your inner coach to remind you, never to give up!

Use all your senses to support your mental organization.  Think again of the scattered or monkey mind and a peaceful mind.  Pick a mental picture to attach to these two states.  Now add sound, smell, touch and temperature to your visual.  As you become skilled in moving into a peaceful mind state, your thoughts gain power, clarity and focus.
