It was a chance encounter with Maria, one of the new owners of Del Borracho, that led us to this very authentic saloon and grill for good old cheeseburgers and fries. We find that while traveling, comfort food from home is needed on occasion.
It seems like del Borracho is a popular restaurant for those driving the Baja as it is just off the transpeninsular near Loreto. Many tourists doing a day trip to the San Javier Mission also start their day with a homestyle farm breakfast at the saloon.
Three of us had the cheeseburgers (fabulous) and fries. Due to the fries taking longer than expected, we were also presented with a complimentary order of nachos (totally unsolicited). We also enjoyed the old fashioned, creamy milkshakes! Kaitlin ordered the toasted turkey club with coleslaw and she enjoyed it, although, I noticed her eyeing our cheeseburgers with envy!
We enjoyed the food, lively atmosphere and great service at del Borracho and highly recommend a visit! All that was missing from the authentic saloon atmosphere was a drunken brawl.
Enjoy your day!
