More on…Women, Entrepreneurship, Money and Heart
It’s official! Studies are now validating what many of us have known for a long time; women do business differently! In a recent study by Karen D. Hughes of the University of Alberta, entitled “Exploring Motivation and Success Among Canadian Women Entrepreneurs†she finds from her research that both the reasons women enter business and what they value in business is different than for men. Other studies are showing that not only are women run businesses on the increase but that in these organizations, people are happier, healthier and the bottom line reflects this positively. Why is this?
In business, many women love using their innate qualities or strengths in building relationships, supporting others, caring about the people they work with, being generous with their time and talent and being concerned about sustainability and the future of the planet. I like to think of this as women being intuitively able to use both their heart and their head in business.
Keeping with the theme of “women, money & abundanceâ€; what happens when the quality of generosity and the mantra “givers gain†becomes overused or out of balance? Ask yourself: do I ever feel that everyone but me is benefiting†from my generosity; do I feel profitable, abundant and prosperous or; do I feel out of balance, in scarcity and resentful? If you answered “yes-no-yesâ€, your generosity may be “over used†with others and “under used†with yourself.
Your relationship with money as played out with overused generosity with others and underused generosity with yourself, may mirror your level of deservedness or worth at a very deep level. Stay tuned for the next POW e-bulletins for more commentary on this very important topic. As a life & business coach for women, I love to remind you that you have the right and in fact you are entitled to be prosperous and this starts with being compassionate and generous with yourself.   As Eric Butterworth says in “Spiritual Economics: The Principles and Process of True Prosperity†…
“You were born to achieve, to release your inner power, to fulfill your uniqueness. It is the “little spark of celestial fire that you may desecrate but never quite lose.â€
