Time for You: the importance of personal reflection

Who are you and when was the last time that you asked yourself this question?  I imagine that most of you can answer the “who are you part” in a variety of ways.  Often women respond with what role they play, or what their profession is, or if they are a mom or partner, or sister.  In the absence of those titles, roles and descriptions who are you?  Answering the question becomes abit trickier now.  If we peel away the layers, the life experiences, the history, at your very essence who do you believe yourself to be.

Many adult women, when asked this question struggle with the answer.  Think of when you were young, before puberty, perhaps between the ages of 5 and 8.  Who did you think you were then.  What did you want to be when you grew up?  What do you now want to be “when you grow up”?

In our busy lives, it may seem tricky to find the time for personal reflection… the power and benefit of committing to this practice is an enhanced sense of self, a depth to life and relationships and the ability to be the creator of your life rather than a passive observer.  Reflect on this quote “an unexamined life is not worth living” and if you were to examine your life, what would you come up with?  Keep asking the question “who am I”?

My challenge to you is to commit to giving yourself time for personal reflection daily!
