Inrageous/Outrageous Self-Care Enchantments for July 3, 2008

Inrageous/Outrageous Self-Care Enchantments for This Week

Yeh, it is summer!  There is something about the summer season that feels so freeing and liberating!  For those with kids at home, it may be the shift in the schedules, for others, it is the shift in weather.  Regardless, most women I know love summer.  One of my dear friends, (who happens to be celebrating her birthday right now in Paris, lucky woman), loves to go swimming in the ocean and then “bake” on the sun warmed rocks. Another friend loves hand picking strawberries and then makes strawberry jam.

In our family, ever since the kids were little, we would start our summer season by reading “The Squeeze More Inn” by Elizabeth Ferber.  This is a very short, beautifully illustrated kids book, set in the lower mainland of BC.  Here are some of my favorite short bits (from memory, so pardon any mistakes) “This past summer I went on vacation with my best friend Maureen.  We swam for hours, pretending we were mermaids or movie stars.  Maureen’s dad baked us a blueberry pie and we ate until our tongues turned blue.  At night we made a huge bonfire and watched the stars.  I will never forget my vacation with Maureen at the Squeeze More Inn.”

So, in the spirit of the summer season, the self care enchantments for this month are very light hearted!

Self Care Enchantments for the week:

1.  Go berry picking and enjoy scrumptious sun warmed fresh berries.
2.  Plan a skinny dipping adventure or at least a lake or ocean swim!
3.  Play beach volleyball, lawn badminton or paddle ball.  Remember the exuberance of summers as a kid!
4.  And, especially for the American readers, enjoy some fireworks tomorrow!

“May your life be like a wildflower, growing freely in beauty and joy each day.”
