In my business coaching, I partner with Pamela Chatry, a small business development specialist and business strategist to provide a broad and deep range of services and experience to support women entrepreneurs to succeed in business through coaching and consulting. One of the ways we work with our clients is around women-centered business planning.
As part of business planning, our approach to marketing includes the following guidelines: start by developing your personal brand and identifying your “perfect clientâ€; market you and your brand with a broad based marketing approach; review all the marketing avenues available and pick three marketing strategies to focus on at a time; use marketing strategies that are in alignment with your unique style, preferences and abilities. For example if public speaking terrifies you, don’t use speaking as a promotional strategy; or if you have a young family, and it is tricky to be away from the home, consider networking via the internet rather than in person.
Many women choose and love using “Attraction Marketing†as one of the three marketing strategies as it is a non-competitive approach that taps into personal passion and pleasure to create a profitable business.
“Attraction Marketingâ€, is anchored in the “Law of Attractionâ€. Long before “The Secret†was published, folks were using the Law of Attraction to help grow their business and create their lives. It is my personal observation though, that there is a lot of confusion as to what exactly this law is and how it works.
Simply, this law is based in science, states that “like attracts like†and includes the concept of resonance and frequency. The “jump†is to think of one’s self as an “instrument of resonance with a specific vibrational frequencyâ€. Before you think that this is getting too woo woo for you, consider cell phones or radios and ask yourself, how does the sound travel from one phone to another or how does the sound make it to your radio? The answer? Through sound waves of a specific frequency that you can’t see. You are like a cell phone or a radio station transmitting emotional energy waves at a specific frequency.
So, with the Law of Attraction, it is understood that your thoughts, but more specifically, your thoughts plus your feelings send out signals with a specific “attraction frequencyâ€, like a magnet (again, grounded in science). Remember, like attracts like!
There are three key components to using the law of attraction as one of your marketing strategies: you, your thoughts and your feelings. The “you†part is to develop self awareness and crystal clarity as to who you are at your core, what your values are, who you love to work with and do your best work with and what your life mission is and what your business vision is. The book Pamela mentioned in her article “Attracting Your Perfect Customers†is a valuable resource for this part. This solid foundation of life & business planning allows you to “hold positive and passionate thoughts and feelings†that are in alignment with your mission and vision. The challenge is to keep your thoughts and feelings laser focused in a positive direction and not allow self-limiting or fearful thoughts and feelings much “air timeâ€. As you feel positive, passionate, excited and alive, you will literally “resonate†with this passion and attract to you like-minded clients, opportunities, connections and experiences that support you to move towards your vision. Your job is to “tune yourself up†into positive emotional states of enthusiasm, expectancy and passion.
As this “fire” quote says “Of all the things you might succeed at, those things you’re passionate about give you the best possible chance for successâ€.
We love the following book and highly recommend it for women entrepreneurs who want to use attraction marketing in their business. This book outlines a proven and powerful 4 step process to “attract your perfect customer”: “Attracting Perfect Customers: The Power of Strategic Synchronicity” by Stacey Hall and Jan Brogniez.
We believe that women do biz differently and would love to connect with all the women entrepreneurs out there who are curious about a women-centered approach to business planning and development.
