We recently celebrated our youngest daughter’s birthday and gathered a group of family and friends for dinner and birthday cake.
With three daughters, the youngest turning 26, we have hosted similar occasions at least 78 times, enough times to groan, ‘oh no, please choose anything, just not another ice cream cake’ (family joke)!
As I sat listening to the laughter and the stories, the jokes and the reminiscing at this quite normal family event, I felt incredible joy, gratitude and love for the friends and family in the room and for the friends and family who I don’t get to see very often.
I vow again not to get so busy I miss my ordinary joyous life!
