Do you use your body and drive it like a vehicle? Do you feel like you are a talking head and anything from your neck down is an accessory? Or, do you fully inhabit and “embody†your physical self? During the over 20 years that I was in health care, we would see many folks who were suffering from burnout. They were getting colds, infections, were getting injured frequently and were very tired. These folks had been “driving†their bodies, like we drive our cars, not listening to the warning beeps, lights and indicators telling them they were on empty. These folks had separated their bodies from their minds.
Does this feel familiar to you?
Right now, sitting at your computer, can you “feel†your left middle toe? What about your right thigh, your right kidney or your left ovary? How about your spine, your left lung, your third eye? Where does your body consciousness start and stop? How aware are you of your body? How fully do you “inhabit†yourself?
Fully inhabiting and listening to your body, increases your mind-body connection, enhances your sense of self, your body wisdom and helps to re-enchant your life! Try out the following self-care enchantments this week.
Self- Care Enchantments
1.   Every morning, just as you wake up and before you get out of bed, do a quick body scan. Starting at your feet and swooping up your body, envision and connect with all parts of your physical body. Check in for messages, tightness, pain, softness, areas that need further investigation.
2.   Use all five of your senses to be mindful of your body and your environment.
3.   Tune in and ask your body what it needs to be nourished and lovingly cared for, carefully listen for the subtle answers and messages.
